Huawei claims unified air interface for all 5G use cases

One of the biggest question marks over 5G is whether a single air interface will be enough to support all its prospective use cases. Huawei claims that it is in the early stages of testing an interface which could support many different network behaviors and spectrum bands.

Many researchers (though not AT&T’s) argue that different air interfaces will be needed for millimeter wave spectrum, compared to sub-6 GHz bands; or that multiple interfaces will be needed to provide optimal support for the three fundamentals of 5G performance – high speeds, low latency and high availability – and for use cases from 8K video and beyond, to the Internet of Things.
